Currency and Credit Cards

The Turkish currency is Turkish Lira. Coins come in the amounts of 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 Kuruş and 1 Lira, and notes in 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 Lira. In March 2012, the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey determined a unique sign to represent the Turkish Lira and facilitated recognition of the Turkish currency in Turkey and abroad.  While "TL" is the abbreviation for the Turkish Lira, " " is its sign. Either may be used depending on the context.
Major credit cards are accepted at Wyndham İstanbul Kalamış Marina Hotel and other hotels as well as restaurants and stores in İstanbul. Banking hours in Turkey are 9.00 - 17.00 on weekdays.

Medical Services

All participants will be responsible for payment of any medical, surgical, dental, hospital or ambulance services that they require in Turkey and are advised to make appropriate arrangements for insurance. Pharmacies (Eczane) are open from 09:00 – 19:00 on weekdays and Saturdays. They are closed on Sundays but there are always on duty pharmacies (Nöbetçi Eczane) open 24 hours in specified neighborhoods for medical emergencies.

To call Turkey from abroad: International prefix is +90, city codes for İstanbul are 212 (European Side) and 216 (Asian Side) and then seven-digit-number.
To call a mobile phone in Turkey: International prefix is +90 and then ten-digit-mobile phone number.

Smoking Policy

Smoking is not permitted inside the facilities used for the meeting or inside any public places in Turkey.

Tax

The standard rate of VAT on taxable transactions is set at 18% with special rates of 1 % and 8% for specified deliveries and services.
